Self-Tests for Awareness

The three self-tests below were designed to help us recognize symptoms of Compassion Fatigue, Life Stress, and Empathy in our lives. While they are not a substitute for qualified medical diagnosis, they help us determine if we need to seek further support. Ignoring or not recognizing our symptoms can easily hinder our ability to assess the level of fatigue and stress in our lives, as well as thwart our efforts to begin the healing process.

Quality of Life Test

The Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) test is the most commonly used measure of the negative and positive affects of helping others who experience suffering and trauma. It measures compassion fatigue, burnout and compassion satisfaction.

Life Stress Test

This Life Stress test from Dr. Tim Lowenstein identifies the types of life pressures you are currently facing day-to-day. Depending on your coping skills, or the lack thereof, this test can help predict the likelihood that you will fall victim to a stress related illness.

Empath Test

Are you an empath? If you've ever felt someone else's pain or sensed a shift in the energy in a room without knowing what caused it, you might be an Empath. If so, it is critical for you to develop the tools needed to empower you to use these gifts in a healthy and balanced way.
