CFAP Materials

Awareness begins here. We are committed to gathering, documenting, and disseminating useful information that can be readily introduced into caregiving environments in order to impact the lives of caregivers in a positive way. Below you will find numerous resources created by the Compassion Fatigue Awareness Project and founder Patricia Smith specifically for your use, including books, presentations, and documents.

Please see our CFAP Materials Permissions  on our contact page before sharing or copying any of our materials.

Books From Our Founder

CFAP Founder Patricia Smith has authored five books on compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, and authentic self-care, including two training manuals. All of these books are available for purchase online.

Workplace Violence: Zero Tolerance Policy

Recent workplace violence highlights the need for employers to do everything possible to protect their employees. This is particularly important in caregiving environments in all of the helping professions due to the emotional and often intense interactions caregivers experience on a daily basis.

The Compassion Fatigue Awareness Project has created a Zero Tolerance notice template for concerned caregiving organizations to post within plain view of staff, visitors, consultants and anyone else who enters the premises. We urge you to use this template as is, or edit it to mirror the language of your distinct corporate culture.

For further information and materials on workplace violence, go to the United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) website at www.osha.gov.
